Field Descriptions: Basalt fragments approx. 12cm to <1cm sizes. Largest clast is highly vesicular with gas cavities ranging upto approx. 4cm. Very glassy, aphyric to the naked eye. Sample collected very shortly before 004, which occupied the same box, so may contain fragments of 004. Check the dive photos to see how close they were to eachother / Very friable glassy rock pieces from the peak north of wpt2, could not grab so scooped instead / Explored vent site of 1993 eruption off the coast of Socorro Island / 2 x bag; 1 x jar |
